New Year Eve's Glam : Part I

Hey guys!
How excited are you for New Years eve? Are your plans set?! What are you planning to wear? Yes, I'm aware the last day of the year can get a little overwhelming. But don't worry Sister Mash is here to help you out. I'm here with 2 different outfits which can give you ideas to look drop dead gorgeous without much fuss. A very happy new year in advance and hope you guys have an amazing time!

This outfit has all the elements for being fun, outgoing and vivacious. Even though this outfit is all black, it is very flattering. The accessories and the shoes add colour to the outfit and succeed in lifting the outfit. This outfit is perfect if you're planning to dance the night away (like I am), just remember to carry a pair of cute flats to save your feet from all the pain!

Outfit Details:
Black top - Thrifted (Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi)
Pencil skirt -  Forever 21
Red peep toes - Tresmode
Necklace -  Thrifted (Linking Road, Bandra)
Black clutch -  Forever New
Accessories - Thrifted (Colaba Causeway)

Moving on to the next outfit, its more relaxed and laid back but in no way less stylish. Its a perfect outfit for an intimate get together at a friend's or casual party. Its comfortable and very accessible. You can have fun with your hair, just plait it to the side or make a low romantic bun. If you're going to dance just lose the jacket and let  your hair down. Colours in the outfit are very fall/winter. Don't forget to use make up that complement these colours. Replace the heels with booties and the outfit becomes biker chic! You're bound to be the talk of the town. Go have fun!

Outfit Details:
Sequined tank top - Thrifted (Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi)
Black jeans - Thrifted (Linking Road, Bandra)
Faux leather jacket - Forever 21

. Monochrome Madness .

Hey guys!

Hope you guys are doing well and are thoroughly enjoying the monsoons! We know we've been ignoring Sister Mash, its been a crazy couple of months. *obligatory apology inserted here*
So one of the most popular trends this season are the monochromatic styles. They are easy to style and are extremely flattering to any body type. Monochromatic clothing doesn't only mean pairing black with white but bold colors. Summertime monochrome calls for hot pinks, minty greens and primary blues. Of course, all-white or pastels are always an option, with hints of ivory or cream to streamline your ensemble. Though in our post we've stuck to the traditional black and white. Leave us a message on Facebook.com/SisterMash if you want to see more variations of this look!

Janvi's Outfit:

I'm in love with this look!!! AHHHHHH. I am pretty sure that most of you must have noticed that I tend to gravitate toward monochromatic styles. I believe in the philosophy that less is more. The monochrome trend is very IN this season.  I am in love with this outfit. It is a very chic and classy option. I would probably wear this outfit to a night out. To tone the outfit down, the heels can be replaced with sporty converse or a pair of thong sandals.

Janvi is wearing:
  • White lace peplum top - Ginger
  • Black jeans - Pantaloons
  • Brown pumps - Tresmode
  • Watch - Colaba Causeway
  • Blue bracelet - Colaba Causeway
Gunjan's Outfit:
So basically whenever I plan to go out I invariably end up wearing black. So this style is right up my alley. Since my ensemble is all black, I've tried to break monotony with the gold spiked necklace and the nude heels. Swap the heels with gold flats and the necklace with a bright scarf to dress down this look. In terms of make up, I don't have a lot on but to avoid looking washed out I went with red lips. A dash of a bold lipstick really help in pulling a look like this together.

Gunjan is wearing:
  • Black Jeans - Linking Road, Bandra
  • Black beaded top - Sarojini , Delhi
  • Nude heels - Paprika
  • Studded necklace - Colaba Causeway
Share your pictures with us of your monochromatic outfits on Facebook! Hope you enjoyed the post.
Cheers!
Much love,

. Maxi Love .

Hi guys!
How have you been. Hope you are doing well. Sorry we've been M.I.A, it's just been a crazy month filled with lots of travelling and well sadly, sickness. Really sorry for the delayed post.

Maxi dresses are one of the MOST comfortable pieces of clothing that you will ever find. The trend of maxi dresses actually started way back in the '60s, by reputed designer Oscar De La Renta who designed a beautiful full length cotton lace dress for the Elizabeth Arden salon. It became a fashion phenomenon after this. The '60s movie Dr. Zhivago is also responsible for the maxi gaining popularity amongst the masses. The leading designers of the '70s such as Dior, YSL, Cardin, all created their signature maxi styles. Even though the popularity of  maxi dresses went down in the '80s (replaced by ra ra skirts and other trends) they were back in action by the mid 90s and the trend has been around ever since.

How to style the maxi:
As maxis are now longer than ever be sure that your dresses fall to the perfect spot – never wear a dress that trails on the ground – if you are wearing flats the hem should fall to your anklebone, not below.
It’s a myth that shorter girls can’t wear maxis, but it is wise for petite girls to choose more tailored silhouettes as dresses that are both long and billowing will simply swamp a smaller figure.
Maxi dresses also suit women of all body types. Curvy, skinny or anything in between maxi dresses will make you look beautiful and graceful. Our outfit's are minimally accessorized as we didn't want to take attention away from the maxi.

Janvi's Outfit:

Janvi is wearing:
  • Zebra print maxi dress - Thrifted
  • Silver chappals - Thrifted (Coloba Causeway)

  • Bracelet - Thrifted

Gunjan's Outfit:

. Glam it Up .

We both love our trends but don't follow them blindly. We tend to put our own twist to it cause that's just how we roll. ..LOL..not really..but you get the gist.
This outfit post (being our first) we decided to keep it simple!

Janvi's outfit :

I took the plain old boring striped top and glammed it up with a asymmetric skirt and a pair of wedges. I really love the combination and it is a perfect outfit for a dinner date or an evening out with friends. To make this outfit more interesting a bright colored clutch or even a pair of bright drop earrings can be worn.

Janvi is wearing:
  • Striped top - Thrifted (Linking Road, Bandra)
  • Asymmetric skirt - Ginger
  • Black bow wedges - Tresmode
  • Earrings and bracelet - Thrifted (Hill Road, Bandra)
  • Brown sling bag - Pushkar leather market (Puskhar, Rajasthan)

Gunjan's outfit:

I bought this skirt years ago from Sarojini Market, New Delhi and it has been lying in my closet ever since, so I decided it was time for an outing for this adorable piece. I'm wearing this with a coral-y pink lace collared top along with flat pumps in tan to add brightness to the outfit. This can be dressed up with tan/brown pair of heels. Furthermore, I'm carrying a rainbow clutch to add a touch of contrast and I've kept the accessories fairly simple. Its your quintessential 'day' outfit and it can worn for a brunch with your someone special or a trip to the movies.

Gunjan is wearing:
  • Lace collared top - Max
  • Sequined paisley skirt - Thrifted (Sarojni Market, Delhi)
  • Flat pumps in tan - Max
  • Rainbow clutch -  Gifted
  • Accessories - Thrifted

Much love!
